The Animal Health Clinic of Funkstown is happy to announce the addition of a new service for our loyal clients and patients. We will now be offering telemedicine. With the use of a smartphone, tablet, or webcam, those eligible will be able to consult with our veterinarian, Dr. Virginia Scrivener, from the safety of their own home.
Due to the limitations of telemedicine, not all medical cases are appropriate for tele-consult and will still require an in-person examination. Video consultations will be recommended on a case-by-case basis by our doctors and staff based on the pet’s history, their current medical concerns, and how well we are able to see and evaluate the pet through the use of video. If during your video consultation we are unable to effectively see the area of concern, an in-person physical exam may be requested so that your pet may be properly evaluated.
If you choose to participate in Telemedicine:
- The video consultations are scheduled by appointment. Please plan 30 minutes for these consultations.
- Any photos or videos you can take of the area(s) of concern prior to our video consultation will help and can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org for us to review prior to your scheduled appointment time.
- Please have your pet ready in a quiet room with plenty of lighting and a good internet connection for video and audio streaming.
- This is a paid service. Payment via credit card will be requested prior to the start of the tele-consult. In-person physical exams, requested by the doctor, must be scheduled with 2 days of their video consult to have the cost of the tele-consult applied to their in-office visit.
